FAQ
Short answers to the questions people ask most, from bank access to duplicates, currencies and cancelling.
Questions#
Does Orbiq access my bank account?#
Not unless you choose to. By default you import files or screenshots and Orbiq never touches your bank. On the optional Orbiq Connect plan, a regulated, read-only provider syncs transactions, and Orbiq never sees or stores your bank password. See Bank sync.
Is my data shared with anyone?#
Your data is stored on Orbiq's servers and is never sold or used for advertising. When AI categorizes a row, the description is scrubbed first: names, account numbers, addresses and exact amounts are removed or blurred. The AI gets only what it needs to suggest a category.
What does Ask Orbiq see?#
Your question as you typed it, plus totals computed from your data. Transaction descriptions and account numbers never leave Orbiq, and the AI provider does not store or train on what it receives. The AI narrates a result computed on your data; it never queries your rows. Clear your chat history any time.
What files can I import?#
CSV, Excel (.xls, .xlsx), PDF statements, OFX, QFX and QBO bank files, and screenshots (PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC). Drop any of them on Import and Orbiq picks the flow. Password-protected PDFs unlock on your device; the password never leaves your browser. See Import statements.
Do I need Orbiq Connect?#
No. Core is the full engine with file and screenshot import, no bank link at all. Connect adds read-only bank sync for Canadian and US banks. Both run the same engine, and you can switch either way. See Plan and subscription.
Which currencies are supported?#
15: CAD, USD, INR, GBP, EUR, AUD, NZD, BRL, SGD, HKD, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK and PLN, handled in the data itself. The Currency Lens reads everything in your home currency, the original, or any of them. See Currencies.
Can I use Orbiq on my phone?#
Yes. Native apps are on the App Store (iPhone and iPad) and Google Play, with widgets and, on iPhone, Siri. The web app works on any screen and installs to your home screen. See Install the apps.
Are prices really in Canadian dollars?#
Yes. A price shown in CAD is charged in CAD.
What happens to my data if I cancel?#
It stays, readable and exportable. Export a full backup before or after you cancel; there is no lock-in. See Backup and restore.
A transaction is in the wrong category. What do I do?#
Open it, pick the right category, and let Orbiq make it a rule so the next one files itself. See Rules.
How does Orbiq avoid duplicates?#
For CSV, Excel and PDF it compares each row's date, amount and description with what you have. For OFX, QFX and QBO it uses the bank's own transaction ID, so downloading the same month twice never doubles it. Anything that looks doubled anyway waits in Review under Possible duplicates.
Can I undo an import?#
Yes, for 4 hours after a file import: Import → History → Undo removes only the rows from that import. See Undo an import.
Can I track cash?#
Yes. Add it by hand on Transactions, or with the + on the phones. See Add by hand.
Why does a credit card ask for a utilization target and chequing does not?#
Credit limit, statement day and utilization target only mean something for a card, so only card accounts have them.
Why did some rows land in "Other" or stay uncategorized?#
When the AI is unsure, Orbiq would rather ask you than file everything into a catch-all. Those rows wait in Review. Make a rule and the next ones file themselves.
