Household and splits

Share read-only access with your household, choose what each member sees, split shared bills and settle up.

Share with your household#

Invite a partner or family member to see your finances, read-only. They keep their own Orbiq account; you stay the owner and the only one who can change your ledger. They cannot change, import or delete anything, and you can remove them any time without touching their account.

  1. Open Household (find it with ⌘K, or in Settings → Features & navigation).
  2. Type their email address and send the invite. The page shows how many seats you have.
  3. They accept from the email and sign in with their own Google or Apple account.

Choose what each member sees#

Each member has a switch per area: dashboard, transactions, budgets, goals, investments and more. Grants only ever narrow what they see; nobody sees past what you allow.

A member's view is always Personal. Books stay with you.

Splits and settle up#

Once someone has joined, Splits appears in the sidebar.

  • Split any expense. On a shared bill, split it by share: a $120 grocery run becomes your $60 in your own numbers.
  • One running balance. Orbiq tracks who owes whom and nets it to one figure.
  • Settle up records a repayment. It never moves money. When a payment from your bank clears the balance, Orbiq offers to mark it settled (Review, Paid back); or mark it by hand and link the transaction that paid it.
  • Your share in your budgets. Budgets and spending can count only your share of a split. Prefer to see what actually left your account? Switch to cash basis under Settings → Labs.
  • A little appreciation. React to a split, nudge an unsettled balance, and see monthly kudos.

iPhone & Android The Split balance home-screen widget keeps the balance in view.
